All that Black Lives Matter Movement. What Did They Get?

In recent years, the Black Lives Matter movement has been at the forefront of the fight against systemic racism and police brutality. The movement has sparked conversations and prompted action across the globe, demanding justice and equality for Black individuals. Despite the progress made, there is still a long road ahead, and many wonder if the movement has truly achieved its goals. As someone who has personally been affected by these issues, I can confidently say that the Black Lives Matter movement has achieved a great deal. However, there is always room for improvement and continued efforts to bring about lasting change.

As a Black woman, I have experienced discrimination and inequality throughout my life. From being followed in stores to being pulled over by the police without cause, these experiences have shaped my perspective and fueled my desire to make a difference. That’s why I started Auntie Angie’s House – a safe space for Black individuals to come together, support each other, and work towards positive change.

The Black Lives Matter movement has been a driving force behind my decision to create this space. Seeing the protests, the marches, and the solidarity towards the cause has given me hope and motivation to take action. I have witnessed people of all races and backgrounds coming together to support the movement, and it has been truly inspiring.

One of the greatest achievements of the Black Lives Matter movement is its ability to bring attention to the issues faced by Black individuals. The movement has sparked difficult conversations that needed to happen, forcing society to confront its deep-rooted prejudices and biases. It has also shed light on the injustices faced by Black communities, bringing them to the forefront of political and social agendas. This has led to real change, with many organizations and institutions making efforts to address systemic racism and to create a more inclusive and equal society.

The Black Lives Matter movement has also brought about legal change. The passage of critical legislation such as the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act and the banning of chokeholds in various police departments are just a few examples of the impact the movement has had. While these changes may seem small, they are significant steps towards greater accountability and protection for Black individuals.

Moreover, the Black Lives Matter movement has inspired people of all ages to take action and use their voices to demand change. Young people, in particular, have been instrumental in this movement, organizing protests and using social media to spread awareness and educate others. This level of engagement and activism is crucial to creating lasting change, and the Black Lives Matter movement has certainly achieved that.

Of course, there is still a great deal of work to be done. The fight against systemic racism and police brutality is ongoing, and it requires continued effort and dedication from all of us. While the achievements of the Black Lives Matter movement are significant, they are just the beginning. We must keep pushing for progress, standing up against injustice, and supporting one another.

As I reflect on the impact of the Black Lives Matter movement, I am reminded of the words of Martin Luther King Jr., “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” The movement has brought about change not just for Black individuals, but for everyone who believes in equality and justice. It has shown that when we come together and use our voices, we can make a difference.

In conclusion, the Black Lives Matter movement has achieved a great deal. It has sparked important conversations, brought about legislative change, and inspired people worldwide to take action. However, the fight against systemic racism and police brutality is far from over. It is up to all of us to continue pushing for progress and creating a more just and equal society for future generations. As we do so, let’s remember the words of the Black Lives Matter mantra, “We are our brother’s keeper, we are our sister’s keeper.” Only by standing together can we truly make a difference.
